My buddies, Ella and Holden!

November 9, 2010

I love, love this family! I’ve been photographing Ella for many years and she always brings a big smile to my face. For the last couple of sessions, little brother Holden is always a part of our fun and he is just hilarious! Ella and Holden are just FUN kids and I know this comes from having such a fabulous momma and daddy! I loved watching their mom, Angela, work her magic with them the other day. She knew just how to make them do what she wanted, but not once did she get frustrated or overwhelmed…at least it seemed that way to me! These kids are beautiful! I love the relationship we have year after year and the sweet hugs of remembrance I get from them! Thanks for making me laugh guys and for making me realize yet again how very much I love what I do. Enjoy your sneak peek! πŸ™‚

Ethan, Caleb and family!

November 9, 2010

Tis the season for family photographs! If asked, I’d say that I specialize in the portraits of children. That is my “thing” and what I do best! I’ve had several sessions recently, however, that there was a specific request for no individual portraits of the child and just to focus on the family! A fun change! This past Saturday was just beautiful in Memphis and I was so glad that I had photo sessions scheduled! Gave me a great excuse to get outdoors and play! I met up first on Saturday with this sweet family! These two sweet brothers were too cute together! Put Mom and Dad into the picture and everything is complete! The fall colors were a bit hard to find this year due to the drought, however, we hunted them down! Mom’s choice of some great clothing colors helped add to the beauty of the season. Amanda and Matt, thanks for a fun afternoon. You have a great family. Enjoy! πŸ™‚

The Camera Changes Hands!

November 9, 2010

After being in business for about 5 years now, there’s not too much that gets me nervous and my stomach in knots before a photo session anymore. However, having been asked by another photographer to capture her family on film….now that’ll do it!! πŸ™‚ I was so honored and privileged to be asked by my friend Β and fellow photographer from Covington, TN, Emily Peyton Cook. Emily told me that she started a tradition of having another photographer photograph her family for her each year. I do believe that this is the first session I have ever done where not once did I photograph the child by himself! That’s a first for sure!

Emily, her hubby Zach, and their little man Jonah are so great! It was a joy to spend the morning wandering around Covington Town Square photographing them. The love they have for each other and for Jonah was so obvious! It was so fun for me because Emily already knew which places she wanted as well as which spots “worked” for the light! Sweet! It was, however, a brutally windy and cold day so that added a bit of a challenge to the situation. πŸ™‚

Emily, I have so enjoyed getting to know you! You are an amazing and talented artist with a heart for the Lord that I so admire! I hope these images bring you joy when you see them!

Welcome, Emily!

A new baby is always such a blessing! But, when she comes into a family that has two siblings old enough to adore and appreciate her…that’s the BEST! Sweet Emily made her debut into this adorable family last week and is already the little star of the show. This little darling came into the world at nearly 10 pounds! She made fabulous little newborn photographs because of her full cheeks and little chubby belly and legs. I was in love! She was such a good little girl and behaved like a little angel. We started the day with a few of her all alone and she was so beautiful. Then, in came her charming big brother, Samuel, and precious little lady, big sister, Lynlee! This family was just so sweet and their love for each other was so real you could almost reach out and touch it! Just perfect in every way! Welcome, Miss Emily! You are so loved! πŸ™‚

The Toombs Family!

November 2, 2010

I love this family!! They are so funny and their love and affection for one another is obvious to anyone who spends more than a few minutes with them! I met up with the Toombs family last week for some portraits at Arlington Town Square and we had a great time just hanging out and laughing together! The main purpose behind this session was a group shot of everyone so we spent the majority of our time on that! Take a look…aren’t they just awesome? πŸ™‚

And, look how sweet! This man loves his wife…no doubt about it! πŸ™‚

There was one other purpose to our session. My sweet friend, Katie, is an AMAZING artist and she needed some new head-shots for her business. Of course, I was happy to help! TakeΒ a look how beautiful she is…

Also, on occasion my customers and I arrange a trade of services. This was such an occasion and I have to share with you my “payment” for this session. I commissioned Katie to do a piece for me for my hearth room over my sofa. Katie delivered my painting yesterday and I am in LOVE!! It is so beautiful and my photograph doesn’t do it justice! If you would love some beautiful artwork for your home, I encourage to contact Katie and have her create something for you! She is amazingly talented, but more than that she’s just an amazing person! Take a look at her work, www.katietoombs.com! You’ll love what you see! Here’s my painting…Haven! πŸ™‚

Adam and Meredith…

November 2, 2010

Last week was the “perfect” fall week for outdoor photographs. The weather was fantastic and the landscapes are finally starting to look like fall. Colorful leaves abound and, yet, there are still some pretty flowers in bloom in certain places like the Botanic Gardens. Add in a couple of adorable siblings and you’ve got the perfect combination. Adam is four and is all boy! He loved making jokes and saying silly things just to get me to laugh. His smile is awesome! And, sweet Meredith, the typical cutie-pie little sister. A little bit shy and alot of beauty. Loved working with them and their great mom! It makes a session so much more enjoyable for everyone when the parents come into the session relaxed and just try to enjoy the process! Thanks so much Leslie, Adam, and Meredith for a fun session. Hope you love your sneak peek! Enjoy! πŸ™‚

Sisters in blue…

October 14, 2010

Such stunning blue! I am loving these dresses! What I love even more is that these girls’ very smart momma thought to buy these in January on clearance in thinking about her pictures with me this Fall! How can you not love thinking that far ahead? My kind of lady there! Mary Caryl and her little sister, Jax and I are old friends by now. We have worked together for years and always photograph at the girls’ grandmother’s amazing home. The little girls are comfortable and happy there; and, we ended up with some precious pictures this time, too! I love the look that these dresses added to the session. See for yourself…

And, finally, a quick outfit change and a fabulous idea! Carolyn brought out new colors for the girls to use in the pictures! Love it! However, in this case, I think it worked against us. The girls just loved the colors a bit too much and no matter what we tried, we could NOT get them to look our way. I don’t really mind, though. I adore these shots of them coloring together. So sweet and innocent and simple. Ahh! πŸ™‚

Welcome, Savannah!

October 13, 2010

Allow me to introduce two new friends of mine: Little Savannah, just 12 days old at her session this past Monday and her big sister, 3-year-old Avery. We had a gorgeous day to work with, a pleasant surprise in mid-October. So, we decided to take the girls outside and take advantage of it! Savannah was so sweet and had so much hair! She was very aware of what was going on around her and was determined not to miss out on anything! πŸ™‚ And, sweet Avery, is already such a wonderful big sister! She was so patient with Savannah as we worked to try to get “that shot”! Girls, loved working with you. And , Julie, your daughters are so beautiful and well-behaved! Good job, momma! πŸ™‚

While Miss Savannah was being cuddled and fed, I did a few shots with her big sister!

Then, we tried for one with the girls together…

And, finally, Savannah slept and it was her turn!

You never know…

October 13, 2010

I never know what surprises might be in store for me at my photo sessions! This past week, as I rounded the corner to look for the family I was to photograph, there stood an old friend and classmate of mine from high school! I was so surprised! Usually, we deal with the moms in scheduling the sessions, so it never even occurred to me that the last name of this family came from my former classmate and he was the Daddy of this gorgeous bunch! It was really fun to catch up with you, Chris! All of your girls are simply beautiful both inside and out! I so enjoyed getting to know Keegan and Theran and your beautiful wife! Ashley, you’ve got such style! I loved the feel of the clothes of this session and the vintage look it inspired. I hope you all enjoy your little sneak peek. There are so many more to come and I can’t wait to share them with you! πŸ™‚

A few of Miss Keegan…

And, Miss Theran!

A few family favorites…

And, finally, sweet sisters!

It’s good to be McKenna!

October 13, 2010

Oh,to be McKenna! This little girl is SO loved! Plus, she is just stinkin’ adorable to top it off! I met up with McKenna and her parents on Saturday morning for a session at Arlington Town Square. We started out the day with of few of this beautiful little girl by herself, and then a few with mom and dad.

See why she is so gorgeous? πŸ™‚

Soon, McKenna’s big sister joined us for some family pictures! They were having such a good time together and it was such a pleasure to be included in the fun!
