Christian…a happy boy!

January 14, 2011

Christian is 11 weeks old and such a happy little guy! Those who follow me know that I don’t normally like to shoot “newborn” sessions past 2 or so weeks. But, I made an exception for little Christian as he was in town from San Francisco (poor kid to have to grow up there!) visiting his Grandma, and, well we work with what we have, right? I am so glad to have had the opportunity to meet this sweet family. We shot the session in a gorgeous home down in Harbor Town overlooking the Mississippi River. The room in which we shot was a photographer’s dream studio. Walls of windows, bright sunlight reflecting off of the river and the freshly fallen snow, and white painted walls and white carpet! It was yummy light for sure. We tried our best to get the little guy to fall asleep…and he did…for about 5 minutes! HA! However, it worked out just fine because he was full of smiles and laughter that’ll make your heart melt. Take a look for yourself. Enjoy happiness!

Smiles and then some sleep for a few minutes…

And, then, some more happiness!

Coco is Sitting and Smiling!

January 11, 2011

Happy New Year! Can hardly believe it is 2011! I’ve had a wonderful break and time-off with my family. On Friday, I had my first session of the year with Miss Coco! She is a part of the Little Gifts Newborn Club and this session was for her “Sitting and Smiling” moment! Coco’s beautiful momma always has great ideas for her sessions and this one was no different. We decided to do the session at Coco’s grandmother’s gorgeous home and take advantage of a more formal look and take some photographs of Coco in her christening gown. I love the mixture of traditional poses as well as the classic Β “1:17” shots that are more my style. And her beautiful gown was just calling for some vintage looks as well so I indulged! I hope you all enjoy this first Sneak Peek of the year! So excited about all this is to come!

A few of baby and mommy! Aren’t they just lovely? πŸ™‚

And, last but not least…

Welcome, little Owen!

December 8, 2010

Yesterday was my last official photo session of 2010 and what a happy ending! Meet 6-day-old Owen Bradley and his parents! Owen was such a good boy during my visit. I fell in love with his little scrunchy little face. I just loved how in most of his pictures his face was just all full of wrinkles and squishy-ness! Just wanted to pinch ’em and kiss ’em! Owen is, by his parents’ own words, their little “miracle baby” and he is so very loved. This family will have so much fun together, I just know it! We laughed and smiled and enjoyed the moment together of celebrating this little guy! What a beautiful Christmas gift you are to your parents, Owen! Welcome, welcome, welcome little guy and Merry Christmas!!

And, I did it! Another fun newborn smile! Definitely gonna have to be my new “thing”! Love it!

Check out this beautiful family! This might be my new favorite mother/son shot! πŸ™‚

Welcome, sweet Kiser!

November 23, 2010

Oh my goodness, this little lady! Sooo very sweet! So very new, only four days! So very, very loved! I made the drive out to Nesbit, Mississippi today to photograph the newborn daughter of one of my college friends. I loved everything about this session. I loved that little Kiser has an amazingly “crazy” head full of hair! I love that her Mom, Megan, had so many fun hats, dresses, blankets and props all ready for me to use….just wish we had more time to use them all! I think after about 2 hours Miss Kiser had enough! She was such a good little girl! I love that Kiser had so much family at the session to watch her. Her “Grams”; plus, her aunt and uncle and cousins all the way from Colorado! I love that her sweet Daddy was so worn out (and kind enough to want to stay out of our way) that he went to sleep in the master bedroom closet! Gotta love a Daddy like that! I love that God designed us to love our family from the very first moments! Kiser is so very loved and she’s only hours old. Isn’t it amazing how God made us that way? What a wonderful Thanksgiving this family has in store! So very much to be thankful for! Welcome, Kiser! You are one blessed little angel! πŸ™‚

She started out the day wide awake and looking straight at me! Love those big eyes!

Sweet pearls! Don’t you love them? πŸ™‚

And, you know, I think I am starting a trend on capturing newborn smiles! This one’s a keeper! Even a little dimple, I think! I think her smile is all you, Megan! πŸ™‚

And then…we played dress-up with hats! So.much. FUN!!

And, finally, my personal favorite…the Christmas hat! Isn’t this just awesome! Kiser’s Grandmother made this just for her! Happy Holidays, everyone!

The Camera Changes Hands!

November 9, 2010

After being in business for about 5 years now, there’s not too much that gets me nervous and my stomach in knots before a photo session anymore. However, having been asked by another photographer to capture her family on film….now that’ll do it!! πŸ™‚ I was so honored and privileged to be asked by my friend Β and fellow photographer from Covington, TN, Emily Peyton Cook. Emily told me that she started a tradition of having another photographer photograph her family for her each year. I do believe that this is the first session I have ever done where not once did I photograph the child by himself! That’s a first for sure!

Emily, her hubby Zach, and their little man Jonah are so great! It was a joy to spend the morning wandering around Covington Town Square photographing them. The love they have for each other and for Jonah was so obvious! It was so fun for me because Emily already knew which places she wanted as well as which spots “worked” for the light! Sweet! It was, however, a brutally windy and cold day so that added a bit of a challenge to the situation. πŸ™‚

Emily, I have so enjoyed getting to know you! You are an amazing and talented artist with a heart for the Lord that I so admire! I hope these images bring you joy when you see them!

Welcome, Emily!

November 9, 2010

A new baby is always such a blessing! But, when she comes into a family that has two siblings old enough to adore and appreciate her…that’s the BEST! Sweet Emily made her debut into this adorable family last week and is already the little star of the show. This little darling came into the world at nearly 10 pounds! She made fabulous little newborn photographs because of her full cheeks and little chubby belly and legs. I was in love! She was such a good little girl and behaved like a little angel. We started the day with a few of her all alone and she was so beautiful. Then, in came her charming big brother, Samuel, and precious little lady, big sister, Lynlee! This family was just so sweet and their love for each other was so real you could almost reach out and touch it! Just perfect in every way! Welcome, Miss Emily! You are so loved! πŸ™‚

Welcome, Colleen!

November 2, 2010

Remember this beautiful maternity session? Well, the expectation has ended and Miss Colleen has finally arrived home! She wins the prize, I do believe, as the newborn that has smiled at me the most during her session. It was really quite humorous how each time I spoke to her she just smiled away as if she knew exactly the purpose for which I was there! It was a beautiful and quite warm fall day, so we took advantage of it and took some portraits inside as well as out! Colleen was a little star and was such a good girl for her session and let us play with all sorts of hats, outfits, and poses….such a girl…already enjoying dress-up! πŸ™‚ Michelle and Darren, I am so happy for you both. Colleen is a blessed little girl to have you in her life! Congratulations!

Welcome, Jeremiah!

October 26, 2010

I am IN LOVE with little newborns! Jeremiah’s session was no exception. Jeremiah Daniel is so adorable and his was just angelic throughout his entire session. He is the first grand-baby on both sides and I had a gallery of sweet family members watching the session. This is one LOVED little guy! This was a special session for me to photograph for so many reasons. First, for those of you who don’t know I used to be a 5th grade teacher and years ago I had Jeremiah’s Daddy, Jon, in my class. Now, if that doesn’t make me feel old! Wow. It is such a joy to see him and his sweet wife, Miranda, so happy and complete with their special gift from God. Additionally, Jeremiah is the grandson of my beloved Pastor and his sweet wife. Not everyone has the opportunity to know their Pastor and family on such an intimate level and having known this family for many, many years I can truly say that this little boy, adorable Jeremiah, will just add to the joy and love that this family shares. I am so happy for all of you. Now, for those pictures. Beyond adorable! Congratulations, Sinquefield family! πŸ™‚

This was a neat part of the session. The blanket that Jeremiah is laying on belonged to his gorgeous mother when she was a baby! So special!

Don’t you love how they look in this photo? As if they are holding the most precious gift ever? Well, they pretty much are! πŸ™‚

Finally, since Jeremiah was born in the fall, we decided to make use of the beautiful fall decor. Love these!

Sisters in blue…

October 14, 2010

Such stunning blue! I am loving these dresses! What I love even more is that these girls’ very smart momma thought to buy these in January on clearance in thinking about her pictures with me this Fall! How can you not love thinking that far ahead? My kind of lady there! Mary Caryl and her little sister, Jax and I are old friends by now. We have worked together for years and always photograph at the girls’ grandmother’s amazing home. The little girls are comfortable and happy there; and, we ended up with some precious pictures this time, too! I love the look that these dresses added to the session. See for yourself…

And, finally, a quick outfit change and a fabulous idea! Carolyn brought out new colors for the girls to use in the pictures! Love it! However, in this case, I think it worked against us. The girls just loved the colors a bit too much and no matter what we tried, we could NOT get them to look our way. I don’t really mind, though. I adore these shots of them coloring together. So sweet and innocent and simple. Ahh! πŸ™‚

Welcome, Savannah!

October 13, 2010

Allow me to introduce two new friends of mine: Little Savannah, just 12 days old at her session this past Monday and her big sister, 3-year-old Avery. We had a gorgeous day to work with, a pleasant surprise in mid-October. So, we decided to take the girls outside and take advantage of it! Savannah was so sweet and had so much hair! She was very aware of what was going on around her and was determined not to miss out on anything! πŸ™‚ And, sweet Avery, is already such a wonderful big sister! She was so patient with Savannah as we worked to try to get “that shot”! Girls, loved working with you. And , Julie, your daughters are so beautiful and well-behaved! Good job, momma! πŸ™‚

While Miss Savannah was being cuddled and fed, I did a few shots with her big sister!

Then, we tried for one with the girls together…

And, finally, Savannah slept and it was her turn!
