Meet Aiden! He just turned One-Year-Old recently and this session was to celebrate that milestone. We captured some precious looks from him as well as had some great ones that included his family as well. And, pu-leeze, those eyes?? Are they not absolutely gorgeous? Melt me now. Happy Birthday, baby boy. You are a sweetheart! π

Oh, how I love a blue-eyed boy!
May 2, 2011Shelby, Patrick & Gibson…
April 14, 2011Remember this hilarious blog done by my friend, Ashleigh, detailing the perils and distresses that accompany finding clothing for her upcoming photo shoot? If you haven’t read it, please take a moment to read it now before viewing the photos. I promise it’ll make you smile and make this sneak peek all the more exciting! Well, she didn’t need to worry one bit! Ashleigh and family showed up Tuesday night for their session looking glamorous and we had a wonderful time together! I loved this session because it was so real…everything about it! From the genuine love that you see between Ashleigh and Patrick as well as the love between them and their children. I love that Shelby’s hair isn’t “perfect” but there are a few little wisps here and there that match perfectly against her bruises on her legs and blue band-aid! π I love little Patrick’s missing front teeth and his Spider-man house-shoes that show up in some shots because somehow we all kept forgetting to take off as we walked from spot to spot! π I love that little Gibson was more interested in the birds and my camera than he was about smiling for it! π But see, all these things are what make this family who they are right now! Love!! Ashleigh and Patrick, you already know this but, you have a great family! I hope these photos are a treasure to you in years to come. Enjoy!
Exciting News…Spring Mini Sessions 2011 are here!
March 28, 2011You’ve been asking and the info has arrived! How is a Mini Session different from a regular session? Well, it is only about 15-20 minutes and you receive approximately 10 fully edited custom proof images from which to choose. Why choose a Mini? So many reasons…here’s a few that come to mind. Mother’s Day! Do a session just with Mom & kids. What about Senior Portraits? Not everyone wants a full hour’s worth of photos, so why not take advantage and still end up with at least 10 shots from which to choose? How long has it been since you and your husband/wife had photos taken of just the two of you? What about a session with Grandparents and Grandchildren? Did your daughter just loose her front two teeth and she is so cute you can’t stand it? π The possibilities are endless. However, with the Mini Session you still get the time and talent and expertise of the photographer (thatβs me!), an online proof gallery and a slide-show set to music, access to our full line of products, and the 1:17 customer service that we pride ourselves on!
I’m so excited to share with you the information for our Spring Mini Sessions for 2011. I tried to pick a couple of locations with completely different “looks” so that you have options in choosing. The locations are a Saturday evening in April at Memorial Park and a Friday evening in May at Arlington Town Square. The April session at Memorial Park is when the azaleas should be at their peak (hopefully-as this is based on the weather!). Combine this with the awesome textures of the bridges and rocks there and it is a beautiful setting. Arlington Town Square has become one of my favorites locations to shoot because it offers such a broad variety of backgrounds from which to choose in such close proximity. Both of these locations are customer favorites. I am posting example photos from both locations below.
See below for all the exciting details! Need to schedule your session time? Simply contact jodie@117photography.com with your desired date and sheβll be happy to help you complete the process. Again, these sessions are always a customer favorite so if you see an idea that sounds like something youβd like, donβt delay!
And now, to help inspire you, a few favorites from past sessions for each location. First some from Memorial Park, the location of our April Mini Session.
And, some from Arlington Town Square, the location of our May Mini Session! Hope to see you at a Mini this spring! π
Happy Heart Spring 2011!!
March 12, 2011I love this time of year! Spring is coming so soon and I can hardly wait! I spent a VERY cold morning earlier this week with some precious little kiddos and we all kept thinking WARM thoughts! Doing the shoot each Spring and Fall for The Happy Heart in Arlington has become one of my favorite things to do each season. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, this place is a must-see if you are searching for a special outfit for your little ones. Their new spring lines are beyond fabulous, ya’ll! Really! π I love that they also have so many great choices for little boys, too! Those of us with boys understand this difficulty!
One of the things I love, among many, is that this store has incredible choices of clothing for photo shoots. Looking for something that coordinates for your children? Look no further. They are wonderful with “pulling it all together” and helping you coordinate the outfits and complete them with accessories that will make the look!
Please take a moment to look through these photos and see just a glimpse of what Happy Heart has to offer this spring. There is SO much more in the store! So, look and then get on over there and get some for yourself! π

Want to see the entire set of images? I’d love to share the slideshow with you! Follow this link and enter the password, “Spring2011”! You’ll love it! And these just scratch the surface of what they have to offer there! Enjoy!
Happy 1st Birthday Eli!
November 15, 2010Eli is one! Happy Birthday little guy! It’s so hard to believe that it was just a year ago that Eli first arrived and I was photographing him for his newborn session. I know if it seems like just yesterday to me, it must really seem like that to his parents. Eli is so sweet! Poor guy was just getting over a bad illness and was a little clingy at first. We decided to stick with it and as the morning went on he seemed to do much better. So many sweet ones to choose from for this session. I really had a hard time picking the ones to blog. Hope you love them as much as I do, Laura and Josh! Eli is a special little guy to have you guys in his life! I know it’s been a rough road lately and I hope that these photographs bring you much joy! π
Ryan and his Mommy!
November 15, 2010Boys love their momma! I’ve always heard it and it is so very true. I met up with Ryan and Elizabeth last week for a quick session to capture some special mother/son moments. These two are so sweet together. I just loved Ryan! Such a soulful little guy with eyes that’ll tell you stories without saying a word! I think that these will always be very special to these two. It was fun to focus on their relationship and try to freeze it in time. π
First a few with Ryan alone. You know that I’ve gotta get these eyes! Whoa! My favorite below is the one where he is just striking a pose at me. Not smiling a bit, but love, love, love the look!

And, the ones with beautiful Elizabeth! My favorite is the one where he is looking up at her. How sweet!
Whitt!
November 15, 2010A boy and his “Blankey”! Meet Whitt and his constant friend, Blankey! Love it! Having a daughter myself that is almost 7 years old and still loves her blanket, I love that we captured Whitt with his special love. These portraits will be so very dear to his parents someday. The sweetness of that cute little face wrapped up next to the softness of the blanket….aww, sigh….love!! Whitt is all boy and a busy one at that! Our purpose at this session, besides capturing Whitt himself, was to get some special ones of he and his gorgeous momma. Amy is so beautiful and photogenic. We both had to work and chase Whitt around pretty good to get him still for some shots, but we worked it out! I can tell how very much fun this family has together and how very much Mr.Whitt is loved. Thanks guys, for sharing your adorable little man with me. He just makes me smile! π

And, finally, Daddy showed up for a few, too. They had fun making a big bear hug and a squishy out of Whitt! π
Cooper & crew!
November 13, 2010Oh, how I love to photograph cute little boys! Cooper fits that description perfectly! A precious combination of big, blue eyes and a little shy personality and he just charmed me right away! Such a good boy and, oh, how he loved his momma! Gotta love that! Cooper, his mom and dad and myself enjoyed a warm Fall morning this week out at Arlington Town Square. Cooper smiled his way the whole way through! It was plain to see the joy this little guy brings to his parents, and my hope is that someday in the future his Mom and Dad will look fondly back at these moments! Whitney and Rusty, thank you for sharing your family with me! Enjoy your sneak peek! π
The Toombs Family!
November 2, 2010I love this family!! They are so funny and their love and affection for one another is obvious to anyone who spends more than a few minutes with them! I met up with the Toombs family last week for some portraits at Arlington Town Square and we had a great time just hanging out and laughing together! The main purpose behind this session was a group shot of everyone so we spent the majority of our time on that! Take a look…aren’t they just awesome? π

And, look how sweet! This man loves his wife…no doubt about it! π
There was one other purpose to our session. My sweet friend, Katie, is an AMAZING artist and she needed some new head-shots for her business. Of course, I was happy to help! TakeΒ a look how beautiful she is…
Also, on occasion my customers and I arrange a trade of services. This was such an occasion and I have to share with you my “payment” for this session. I commissioned Katie to do a piece for me for my hearth room over my sofa. Katie delivered my painting yesterday and I am in LOVE!! It is so beautiful and my photograph doesn’t do it justice! If you would love some beautiful artwork for your home, I encourage to contact Katie and have her create something for you! She is amazingly talented, but more than that she’s just an amazing person! Take a look at her work, www.katietoombs.com! You’ll love what you see! Here’s my painting…Haven! π
Jackson is a big boy now!
October 26, 2010Yesterday was a big day. I met up with sweet Jackson to complete his First Year Baby Plan. Jackson did his session a little differently than most of my baby planners and had sessions at 4 months and 8 months. Yesterday’s session was his last one and he is now a precious 16 month old little boy full of charm and smiles. He is so adorable with some really cute faces. I loved photographing him and playing around with him. Just enjoy his cuteness and tell me I’m not right! π
