Saturday was a gorgeous Fall day all day long! Just simply perfect for our last Mini Session this year. Jodie and I had a blast hanging out with all the families that came to be photographed in the town square. It was so much fun! Only small hangup we encountered was the wind! We were about 2 sessions in when the wind just starting blowing in HUGE gusts! I’ll admit it was a big challenge to work around, especially for all the pretty ladies with their long, beautiful hair! But, we made it through and managed to get some really, really gorgeous portraits for these families! I am thrilled to show you all what we ended up with and hope that you love them! Thanks for another successful Mini Session!

Mini Sessions in Arlington!
October 6, 2010Cotton Field Day Two!
October 5, 2010Love, love, love these pictures in the cotton! Just so fun and different from what I normally do! This may very well need to become a yearly tradition for 1:17 Photography. However, not really sure how to plan them as the maturing of the cotton is so weather dependent. Last year it was November-this year it was September. Hmmm. A dilemma which I have an entire year to figure out! 😉 All suggestions are welcome!
Hope you enjoy these sets of portraits as much as I do! All these sweet families below are not only my fabulous customers; however, they are also all my great friends! What a fun night! Enjoy!
Surprise! The Cotton is ready!
September 28, 2010I had the strangest thing happen to me last week. Part of being a photographer  that shoots mainly outdoors is learning to deal with the weather. I’ve gotten pretty good at rescheduling sessions due to rain, dark clouds, mud, wetness, etc. However, I must say that I’ve never had to reschedule anything due to the LACK of rain! Last week I received a phone call from the very kind farmer who had offered up his cotton fields to me to use for the Mini Sessions I had scheduled for Oct.23rd. He proceeded to tell me that due to lack of rain and extreme heat that the cotton was ready to be harvested and I needed to move on those sessions. Yikes! Well, my clients are amazing because with only two days notice, I had half of them rescheduled for their cotton field sessions on Sunday night! The other half has their turn this coming up Friday!
Everyone showed up in such AWESOME clothes and looked so great! I really love the autumn look to these photos and really am pleased with how they turned out! Can’t wait for Friday to see what those sessions have in store. So, enough of my story. Take a look at these precious families! Happy Fall y’all! 🙂
Mini Sessions, Round One…Success!!
September 21, 2010This past Saturday was my first round of Mini Sessions and they turned out just fabulous! At the last minute, I decided to switch up three of the sessions to Arlington Town Square (at the request of the customer 🙂 ) while the remainder of the sessions were taken here in my backyard! I couldn’t have been more pleased at our results. It was a great day full of some old friends that I hadn’t seen in awhile, some brand new friends experiencing their first time ever with 1:17 Photography as well as one of our “Find a Cotton Field” contest winners! I love the variety of looks I was able to capture on Saturday from the summer whites and impatiens to the sweaters and blue jeans. September is the perfect mesh for any type of look. I hope all of you enjoy your sneak peek! I had a blast and thank you for choosing 1:17 Photography! 🙂
So, without further babbling from me, here’s what you came here to see, enjoy!

Fall 2010 Mini Sessions!
August 12, 2010As I write this post, it is a ridiculously H.O.T. 116 heat index in Memphis, TN! I know it is hard to believe it, but the cooler weather of fall and the fun of the holidays are fast approaching us! I’ve been staying cool these last few days thinking about Christmas and planning out the 1:17 Photography yearly tradition and customer favorite… Mini Sessions! Â I know you must think I am crazy tossing out holiday thoughts right now; however, I am determined to help you and I avoid the hectic times surrounding the holidays this year by planning ahead.
This year, we will be doing Mini Sessions in a new and exciting way. We will have 3 different days with 3 different locations from which to choose! On September 18th, our session will take place at my home in my backyard. My home, the spot of our traditional mini sessions, has a newly landscaped backyard that should be lovely in September for those last few warm days of the year . The first October location, on October 2nd, Â is going to take place at Arlington Town Square, a new favorite location of mine and perfect for the rustic look. They’ve got some great red benches and rocking chairs that’d be soo cute on a Christmas card. And the last session, on October 23rd, will be in a local cotton field. I took my own children’s portraits for our 2009 Christmas card in a cotton field last year and just knew I needed to give this opportunity to my clients, too. Additionally, you have three different options to choose from for your session price. All three of these options include a $125 print credit! And, for the first time ever, some options come with a digital image for printing your own photographs as well as an option that includes our fabulous new press-printed card stock two-sided cards. Really exciting stuff!
How is a Mini Session different from a regular session? Well, it is only about 15-20 minutes and you receive approximately 10 fully edited custom proof images from which to choose. These sessions are perfect for those that don’t want a full session, want someone else to handle that dreaded “Christmas Card photo”, needs gifts for the grandparents, or just wants a few quick , simple, and lovely portraits of their favorite kiddo! However, with the Mini Session you still get the time and talent and expertise of the photographer (that’s me!), an online proof gallery and a slideshow set to music, access to our full line of products, and the 1:17 customer service that we pride ourselves on!
See below for all the exciting details! Need to schedule your session time? Simply contact jodie@117photography.com with your desired date and she’ll be happy to help you complete the process. Again, these sessions are always a customer favorite so if you see an idea that sounds like something you’d like, don’t delay!
Not sure which location you’d prefer? Check back tomorrow for a post with samples images from each location!
I’m so excited! Hope to see you this fall for a Mini Session!
