Oaklawn Mini Sessions!

April 5, 2012

God was good once again and provided yet another beautiful weekend for photographing! I finished up my first round of the Spring Mini Sessions in grand style with three additional families! All of these families are repeat customers, which is such a blessing and honor to me! I loved seeing all of you again! Hope you enjoy your little sneak peek!

First on the agenda was Mary Kate and Tripp! It’s hard to believe I was photographing little Tripp’s newborn session just under a year ago. Now look at this sweet boy! I just loved the interactions between brother and sister in these portraits. And, those eyes on both these children? Swooon!! 🙂

Next up…Cooper and his crew! I love, love, love this sweet boy and every time I photograph him I really think he should come home with me and hang for a bit! He’s just a cool little boy with the cutest little smile and a great set of parents that helped make him so great! 🙂

Rounding out the night was another sweet brother sister pair, Hudson and Emery! Again, precious interaction between the two of them. Just love a big ol’ bear hug with happy faces! Can’t beat it! They were great for our session and we had some wonderful portraits as a result. 🙂

Anyone who lives in the Memphis area can tell you that Spring came early this year! Therefore, I had to shuffle around my mid-April Mini Sessions. Of course, since we were moving everyone around it didn’t quite work out that all families could come on the same day. So we just put everyone on a couple of different evenings! The first batch was a huge success. Oaklawn Garden was just absolutely breathtaking with all the spring color. God was showing his beautiful creation in a magnificent way! And, I had two very fun and sweet families to work with as well!

First up, an adorable group of brothers! Loved meeting and working with this family for the first time! So sweet!

Next up, was oh so very spunky little Ann Dawson! I hadn’t photogaphed this sweet girl in a couple of years and she hasn’t really changed a bit! I absolutely ADORE her amazing spirit and fun attitude! She had the best time being photographed, and even let her Mom and Dad jump in on a few, too! So great to see y’all again! 🙂

***UPDATED 3/21/12: Due to the early blooming this year of Spring flowers, we’ve had to adjust the date for the April Mini Session at Oaklawn Garden. We will now be shooting out there on Sunday evening, March 25th as well as Friday evening, March 30. There are a few spots left if you have an interest!!***

You’ve been asking and the information is here!

I’m so excited to share with you the information for our Spring Mini Sessions for 2012. I tried to pick a couple of locations with completely different “looks” so that you have options in choosing. Additionally, these locations are ones that I hardly ever shoot, and the farmhouse is one where I’ve only shot once! I just LOVE that these Mini Sessions will give you an opportunity to have a session at a location that is different than the “normal”!  The locations are on a Friday evening in April at Oaklawn Gardens in Germantown, and a Friday evening in May at the farm and fields of a customer who is generously offering their property for our use. The April session at Oaklawn Gardens is hopefully when the azaleas should be at their peak (hopefully-as this is based on the weather!). Combined this with the awesome textures of old benches as well as an old railroad car, it is a beautiful setting. Think lots of green grass and colorful spring azeleas! The May session is located at a property that I fell in love with last year when I photographed there. The property offers an old rustic red barn, a tractor with lots of “character” and a great field full of wild grasses! I am posting example photos from both locations below.

See below for all the exciting details! Need to schedule your session time? Simply contact jodie@117photography.com with your desired date and she’ll be happy to help you complete the process. Again, these sessions are always a customer favorite so if you see an idea that sounds like something you’d like, don’t delay!

And now, to help inspire you, a few examples from past sessions for each location. First some from Oaklawn Gardens, the location of our April Mini Session. These photos are all quite old, but they still show the location well!

And, some from my session last year at  the location of our May Mini Session! Hope to see you at a Mini this spring! 🙂

I absolutely L.O.V.E. the cotton field sessions! They are just beautiful and really feel like the South! 🙂 I just think it looks so peaceful and clean! We had a beautiful night last Saturday playing in the fields with 8 different families! I must say that these Mini Sessions went as well as probably any set of Minis that I’ve done in all my years. All the children were so good, the clothing choices beautiful, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect! Love, love, love! Warning: This is a long post, but I’m not going to say another thing! Just going to share with you just a taste of the sweet children (and their parents!) with whom I am privileged to work with. I am a blessed girl! Thanks, everyone, and enjoy your little sneak peek! 🙂

Mini Sessions have begun!

September 20, 2011

Saturday was the first day of my traditional Fall Mini Sessions. This session really would’ve been more accurately titled had it been called “Late Summer” Mini Session. It was a gorgeous late summer day…warm, blue skies, green grass, and an abundance of colorful flowers! I was thrilled with our results and hope that the families that came to my home are pleased with what they see as well! Enjoy this little sneak peak…more to come! 🙂

First up, customers from the last 5 years, my sweet friends Taylor and Indie! Love watching them grow up each year as they are becoming such a gorgeous young woman and gentleman!

Absolutely adorable little 2-year-old Louis was up next. He brought along his parents and we caputred some sweet photos of this fun-loving family!

Meredith and Conner brought their smiles and sweet brother/sister love to the afternoon! These two are the children of friends from church, and it was my first opportunity at photographing them. I so enjoyed spending time with these two!

As I write this post, it is still feeling very much like a summer day in Memphis, TN! I’m dreaming of cooler nights out by the fire, s’mores, and crunching colorful leaves beneath my feet. It’s time again to announce 1:17 Photography’s yearly tradition and customer favorite… Mini Sessions!  Avoid the hectic times surrounding the holidays this year by planning ahead.

How is a Mini Session different from a regular session? Well, it lasts about 15 minutes and you receive approximately 10 fully edited custom images. These sessions are perfect for those that don’t want a full session, want someone else to handle that dreaded “Christmas Card photo”, needs gifts for the grandparents, or just wants a few quick , simple, and lovely portraits of their favorite kiddo! And new this year, we are going digital! No shopping carts, no hard decisions to pick your favorites! You’ll just get them all on a disc and can use them to your liking.

See below for all the exciting details! Need to schedule your session time? Simply contact jodie@117photography.com with your desired date and she’ll be happy to help you complete the process. Again, these sessions are always a customer favorite so if you see an idea that sounds like something you’d like, don’t delay!

Due to the great feedback we received from last year’s Mini Sessions, we will once again offer a couple of different dates each at a different location!

The first location, tentatively planned for September 21st, will take place in a local cotton field. We have done a Mini Session there the last two years and they were a huge hit with 1:17 customers! Take a look at a blog from last years’s cotton field sessions!  I do need to make an important comment here, however. If you are going to purchase a cotton field Mini Session, please be aware that this is a tentative date only. We will have to wait until sometime in mid-September to know exactly when the cotton will be “ready” with those beautiful soft, white fluffs! 🙂 I am in contact with the farmer who is letting us borrow his fields, and will be sure to notify you of any changes to this date if needed. You will just need to be flexible. Just know that if you purchase a cotton field Mini and the date has to be rescheduled and you cannot make the new date, we will do our best to work with you on finding a good alternative, or we will gladly refund your money. Hopefully, this date will work…we just won’t know for sure for another few weeks!

Our 2nd location this year is out in Collierville at Schilling Farms! I am super excited about the opportunities at this location and think that there is something for everyone here. By this date, some leaves on the trees will hopefully begin to be changing colors. This will be a fabulous location that will truly feel and look like Fall! Here’s a link to a blog that I did last week with some images from Schilling Farms with my beautiful daughter, Isabella.

Finally, the cost for this year’s session is $300.  I’m always like to change things up a bit, and this year I’m trying to make things a little easier on both of us for the Mini Sessions. With the purchase of a Mini Session this fall, it will cover your Sitting Fee, and you will receive the images from your session on a disc(approximately 10 images), professionally retouched with a print release giving you the opportunity to print and create as you wish. More and more often customers are asking for Digital Images, so here’s your chance! You won’t have to worry about shopping carts, ordering deadlines or any of those things. You’ll just get a DVD full of memories and beautiful images!

Be sure to look at the blog links above to get a better idea of what you can expect at each location. If you’d like to join us this year, don’t delay in scheduling. Sessions fill up fast! Can’t wait to see you!

When you think of photographs in the spring, you think of warm days, right? Well, not so much this past weekend at our second set of Spring Mini Sessions! The families that I met with were such troopers and had fabulous attitudes. We had to reschedule the sessions once and then the night we had them, it was only about 60 degrees and very cloudy and somewhat windy. It felt more like the week of Thanksgiving rather than the week after Mother’s Day. Really bizarre. Thank goodness the kids and their parents only had to “suffer” through for about 15 minutes. None of them complained at all. I truly believe that 1:17 has the BEST costumers around. I’m a blessed girl! 🙂

It was so strange, but somehow this round of Mini Sessions ended up being mostly boys. Except for a sprinkling of little girl sweetness here and there, the majority of the sessions were full of some “rough and tumble” little boys. They were all so charming and well-behaved. All in all, it was a wonderful time and I am so happy with the results of our evening!

First up was 2-year-old Ward and his cute little curls! This was my first time to photograph this cute little man, and I look forward to many more!  So sweet! 🙂

Next up, was a super-fun family whom I’ve worked with once before. I couldn’t believe how much they had grown up! They’d also added a new little member to their group. Meet Jack, Kate, Ella and Reed!

After those 4 cuties, was a family whom I adore working with! Normally, I just photograph Miss Ella and Mr.Holden; but, this time, their Mom and Dad decided to get in on the fun. I am so pleased with the results of their little session and know that Ella and Holden’s mom will be so happy with her new family photos. Angela, so happy for you that these turned out so sweet!

William and Henry were the next cute boys on my agenda! I haven’t seen William in about 3 years and had never met Henry before…oh my! Love these boys! William was full of personality and Henry was full of smiles. 🙂 It made for a perfect 15 minutes with this sweet family. So good to see y’all again!

I have been photographing Kade for almost my entire photography career. I cannot believe that this little guy is now 5 years old and almost ready to start Kindergarten. Sniff…sniff. He has one of the sweetest smiles and gives the best hugs! It is always a joy to see this family. Love you guys! 🙂

I last photographed Logan when he turned one. He is now four years old! What a cute boy. This little guys ADORES trains so we spent the majority of this session hanging on the tracks! He thoroughly enjoyed himself and did a great job on his session. Logan, so good to see you and your family again! 🙂

My last session of the evening was of two brothers who are beyond adorable! Meet Jacob and Jack! These boys had F.U.N. at our session and kept me laughing the whole time. I so enjoyed hanging out with them and getting to capture a little glimpse into their world. I can only imagine the smiles and laughter that happen in this home on a daily basis! Kari and Michael, they are so cute! 🙂

I love Mini Sessions!! They go by so very quickly and I get the opportunity to interact with so many different families. It is such a joy. Some “old” faces and some “new” faces…but all beautiful faces! 🙂 God provided us a lovely spring evening to enjoy and photograph. Thanks to everyone who participated. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

First up was Miss Abigail. A quick shoot just for her since she ended up being sick the day of her session a couple of weeks ago. These smiles made it worth trying a 2nd time around!

Next was a new 1:17 family, and I so loved these two cuties. I ended up with soo many cute photos of these two. Meet Reese and Ryan!

Anna Grace and her brother, Peyton were up next. I hadn’t seen Anna Grace since I had shot her newborn session and couldn’t believe how big she was. 18 months and 7 months can definitely be a challenge to photograph together, but I am pleased with our results and love these two little smiles! 🙂

I usually photograph these next two, Addie and Trent, at my Mini Sessions in the fall. We switched it all up this time and did their session in the spring. To add to the fun, we added in their Mom and Dad for this set. I adore the love and joy this family shares. The snuggles are the best! 🙂

Jackson was next, and he’s getting SO big I can hardly stand it! I have photographed him since he was around 4 months old, and he is about to be 2 years already. His brown eyes are so soulful…they just melt me! Love him!

I photographed Miss Molly, her sister, Adalynn, as well as her mom at her newborn session in January. This spring it was time for all the family, including Dad, to get a portrait together. Again, photographing a 21 month old and a 3.5 month old can be very challenging; however, this family just smiled and looked beautfiul through the entire thing. Arent’ they all just gorgeous? 🙂

I haven’t seen this family in about 3 years and it was so good to reconnect! These sweet sisters have added a brother into the mix and this session was mostly about capturing him at this age. He has these a-maz-ing blue eyes…swoon! 🙂 However, we had to do a quick one with all three of them! Love it!

Last up for the night was one of my favortie sets of twins…Katie and Erika! These precious sisters have become somewhat of my Mini Session “regulars” and they did such a good job Saturday night. Like many others, this was their first session with me in the Spring instead of Fall. I so enjoyed seeing them in their sweet white dresses and sharing love with each other. It was the perfect ending to a fabulous night! 🙂

You’ve been asking and the info has arrived! How is a Mini Session different from a regular session? Well, it is only about 15-20 minutes and you receive approximately 10 fully edited custom proof images from which to choose. Why choose a Mini? So many reasons…here’s a few that come to mind. Mother’s Day! Do a session just with Mom & kids. What about Senior Portraits? Not everyone wants a full hour’s worth of photos, so why not take advantage and still end up with at least 10 shots from which to choose? How long has it been since you and your husband/wife had photos taken of just the two of you? What about a session with Grandparents and Grandchildren? Did your daughter just loose her front two teeth and she is so cute you can’t stand it? 🙂 The possibilities are endless. However, with the Mini Session you still get the time and talent and expertise of the photographer (that’s me!), an online proof gallery and a slide-show set to music, access to our full line of products, and the 1:17 customer service that we pride ourselves on!

I’m so excited to share with you the information for our Spring Mini Sessions for 2011. I tried to pick a couple of locations with completely different “looks” so that you have options in choosing. The locations are a Saturday evening in April at Memorial Park and a Friday evening in May at Arlington Town Square. The April session at Memorial Park is when the azaleas should be at their peak (hopefully-as this is based on the weather!). Combine this with the awesome textures of the bridges and rocks there and it is a beautiful setting. Arlington Town Square has become one of my favorites locations to shoot because it offers such a broad variety of backgrounds from which to choose in such close proximity. Both of these locations are customer favorites.

And now, to help inspire you, a few favorites from past sessions for each location. First some from Memorial Park, the location of our April Mini Session.

And, some from Arlington Town Square, the location of our May Mini Session! Hope to see you at a Mini this spring! 🙂

Luke!

October 13, 2010

I love me some Luke! He is another one of my little newborn club members from a few years ago and is growing up so fast. I have photographed this gorgeous family since before Luke was even born. I am always so honored to have return clients. Luke is just a sweet thing. He was so easy this time. His mom promised him a sucker if he behaved for his session. All we had to say was “sucker” and this huge grin would light up his entire face! It was too cute and so funny! Luke couldn’t make it to the original Mini Session Day he was scheduled for on Oct.2nd, so we fit him in early Saturday morning and it worked out perfectly! Lukers, you are awesome! 🙂
