Fall Mini Sessions 2013

October 22, 2013

I always love my Mini Sessions! This year, things were no different! Only exception this time around was that I only had previous customers to take part in these sessions. I sent out the dates to previous customers first, and these awesome families filled up all my spots before I even had a chance to make them public! I love, love, love all these wonderful kiddos and their families. You guys make my job such a joy! Jodie and I had a wonderful time seeing everyone and catching up! Thank you for sharing your babies with me year-after-year! Happy Fall, ya’ll! Enjoy! 2013HoppingMini12fadedautumn60

I’ve been in this business now for about eight years-hard to believe! But, I have to say that Sunday afternoon’s Mini Sessions were among the craziest things I’ve ever done! It is really hard to tell in most of these photos; however, it was raining/misting/very wet the entire time. I had to make the tough call on if we should continue as planned or cancel and attempt to reschedule. I’m SO glad we stuck with our plans, because I just love the light in all of these photos. The families represented here were absolutely FANTASTIC to work with! Not once did anyone complain about getting wet or worried that the photos wouldn’t turn out. They simply trusted in me to get my job done and they did theirs, too. We made a great team! I cannot thank those of you who came out on Sunday enough for your sweet encouragement to me at the sessions and complete trust and flexibility in the situation. I have the BEST customers (and assistant-shout out to Jodie!!). Thanks, guys! It was worth it! 🙂 enjoy…

FINALLY!!! SPRING IS HERE! Yes, I’m aware that all caps means that I am shouting, because I am! 🙂 After what seems to have been the endless winter and countless numbers of “spring” sessions rescheduled due to the winter-like conditions in Memphis this particular Spring, I’m in the mood for some happy shouting! So thrilled with the way these Mini Sessions turned out. The cold days have had one benefit…they’ve kept the daffodils around much longer than usual and I was thrilled to incorporate them into these sessions. The golden warmth of the Spring sun just shines in these happy faces. It was a perfect evening, and I so enjoyed playing in the warm evening with all my sweet little friends and their families. I hope you all love what you see so far! I had a hard time picking my sneak peeks, and that’s never a bad thing, right? Enjoy! 🙂

Spring'13Hughes07

Today is the first day that I’m starting to believe that Spring is coming!! It is finally starting to warm-up up outside and the sun, which it seems we haven’t seen in weeks, is shining brightly! It’s a beautiful day in Memphis, TN! I’m dreaming of warmer nights grilling out, fresh fruits and veggies from the farmer’s markets, colorful flowers, and soft, green grass beneath my feet. It’s time again to announce 1:17 Photography’s yearly tradition and customer favorite… Mini Sessions!

How is a Mini Session different from a regular session? Well, it lasts about 15 minutes and you receive approximately 10 fully edited custom images. These sessions are perfect for those that don’t want a full session, have a person in your family who just likes things done quick and efficiently, someone who needs gifts for the grandparents for Mother’s or Father’s Day, or just wants a few quick , simple, and lovely portraits of their favorite kiddo! And new this year, we are going digital! No shopping carts, no hard decisions to pick your favorites! You’ll just get them all on a disc and can use them to your liking. PLUS, if you prefer to print with my professional labs, you will receive 20% off any print or canvas item you purchase through 1:17 Photography from your Spring Mini Session.

See below for all the exciting details! Need to schedule your session time? Simply contact jodie@117photography.com with your desired date and she’ll be happy to help you complete the process. Again, these sessions are always a customer favorite so if you see an idea that sounds like something you’d like, don’t delay!

Due to the great feedback we received from last year’s Mini Sessions, we will once again offer a couple of different dates each at a different location!

The first location, planned for March 23rd, will take place in a local field that has wild grasses growing. I have a couple of different places in mind and plan to wait until the week of the sessions to pick which field we will use. I want to pick the one that looks the best at that time. Take a look at a few blog posts from some sessions that took place in these fields. I just LOVE the soft, simplistic feel that these photographs have-plus they are a decorator’s dream as their neutral colors will work great in any room. Love these photos in both color and black/white!

Our 2nd location this year is out in Germantown at Oaklawn Gardens! I am super excited about the opportunities at this location and think that there is something for everyone here. I have picked this date to be hopefully when the azaleas should be at their peak (hopefully-as this is based on the weather!). Combined this with the awesome textures of old benches as well as an old railroad car, old rustic buildings…it is a beautiful setting. Think lots of green grass and colorful spring azaleas! This will be a fabulous location that will truly feel and look like Spring!

Here’s a few links to the blogs that show the images from Oaklawn Gardens. All of these are from last year’s Mini Sessions at this same location at the same time of year:

Finally, the cost for this year’s session is $300.  I’m always like to change things up a bit, and this year I’m trying to make things a little easier on both of us for the Mini Sessions. With the purchase of a Mini Session this fall, it will cover your Sitting Fee, and you will receive the images from your session on a disc(approximately 10 images), professionally retouched with a print release giving you the opportunity to print and create as you wish. More and more often customers are asking for Digital Images, so here’s your chance! You won’t have to worry about shopping carts, ordering deadlines or any of those things. You’ll just get a DVD full of memories and beautiful images! Plus, for those who prefer to still order through me, you will recieve a 20% discount on all prints and canvases that you would like to order through 1:17 Photography using any image from your Spring Mini Session.

Be sure to look at the blog links above to get a better idea of what you can expect at each location. If you’d like to join us this year, don’t delay in scheduling. Sessions fill up fast! Can’t wait to see you!

Saturday could not have been any more perfect for our last day of Mini Sessions in 2012! I am so very incredibly blessed to spend time with these families! Thank you, to each of you, for choosing my little company to capture these moments for you! I can’t wait for you to see them all, but, to tide you over I have picked a few of my favorites from each set. We had a super successful day! Please be patient, lots of beautiful faces heading your way! Enough said…Enjoy! 🙂

A few Arlington Minis…

November 6, 2012

This past Saturday was a beautiful Fall day in Memphis, so we shuffled a few folks around in trying to take advantage of the gorgeous weather. These sweet families meet me for their mini sessions and all went great! I always love the opportunity to meet new friends and catch up with ones I haven’t seen in awhile. These mini sessions gave me the opportunity to do both. I so enjoyed our time together and makes me even more excited to complete our mini sessions for this fall this coming up weekend. Thanks so much, “W” and “B” families for sharing your families with me. Enjoy your sneak peeks! 🙂

I love a family that laughs together! 🙂

October Mini Sessions!

October 24, 2012

God truly blessed us with a GORGEOUS weekend for our Mini Sessions outside in the colorful leaves and lovely weather. I’m amazed at how different each family looks and that they each have their own way of making this spot truly their own, despite being all made in one location in a small period of time. I think each of our beautiful families truly “rocked” their session, and I’m so pleased with our results. I cannot wait to share all of the images with each of you! You’re going to love them! Thank you, for choosing me to photograph your family this year! Enjoy your sneak peek…warning…long post ahead of lots of cuteness!!

Taylor and Indie…

October 18, 2012

Oh, how I love these two!! It’s been years that I have been photographing Taylor and Indie. Taylor is now a senior in high school and beautiful Indie is in the 7th grade! It’s so much fun to watch them grow. Their mom is so good in having them come see me every year. I pulled out a shot from their first session I had with them years ago, back in 2007, just for fun. I’m sure Taylor and Indie will kill me for posting this, but just wanted to show how important it is to document your kids’ lives. They grow up so quickly! Love you guys!! 🙂

Cotton!!

September 24, 2012

Gorgeous weather..beautiful white, fluffy cotton…perfect clothing choices…and sweet, beautiful children. All added up to a wonderful first day of Fall in a cotton field. Here’s  a quick sneak peek from our first round of Mini Sessions that happened on Sunday night! Enjoy!

I’ve have been so very excited about photographing out at “The Farm” again and now I remember why! We had a great Mini Session evening on Friday! Lighting was beautiful, families were smiling, and children were happy as they climbed on the tractor, feed the chickens and picked wildflowers! It was a great night! So, without further chit-chat on my part, I’m just going to share the sneak peek with you! Thank you to all the families involved in helping to make a great night! So much fun!

First up, two sisters who I’ve been photographing for almost 5 years! Hard to believe that the oldest was only 6 months at our first session together. She just turned 5 and is ready to start Kindergarten! Crazy! Love these sweet girls! 🙂

Next up was two twin sisters that are book-ended by their big brother and baby brother! Always fun with this family and I love their spunk! 🙂

I was so excited to meet this next young man! He’s the son of a college friend and the same age as my little boy! I had never photographed him before, and really enjoyed getting to know him better! Great kid you’ve got there, “Crockett”!! 🙂

And, the final group of the night was the “H” family! Mrs.”H” is one of the many phenomenal teachers at my children’s school. It was an honor to meet her family and photograph them. We just laughed and had a great time hanging out! I loved watching their interactions and laughter together! 🙂
