Surprise! The Cotton is ready!

September 28, 2010

I had the strangest thing happen to me last week. Part of being a photographer  that shoots mainly outdoors is learning to deal with the weather. I’ve gotten pretty good at rescheduling sessions due to rain, dark clouds, mud, wetness, etc. However, I must say that I’ve never had to reschedule anything due to the LACK of rain! Last week I received a phone call from the very kind farmer who had offered up his cotton fields to me to use for the Mini Sessions I had scheduled for Oct.23rd. He proceeded to tell me that due to lack of rain and extreme heat that the cotton was ready to be harvested and I needed to move on those sessions. Yikes! Well, my clients are amazing because with only two days notice, I had half of them rescheduled for their cotton field sessions on Sunday night! The other half has their turn this coming up Friday!

Everyone showed up in such AWESOME clothes and looked so great! I really love the autumn look to these photos and really am pleased with how they turned out! Can’t wait for Friday to see what those sessions have in store. So, enough of my story. Take a look at these precious families! Happy Fall y’all! 🙂

Quinn and Currie…

September 28, 2010

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…LOVE photographing sisters! They are just such fun little friends. I always feel like there is a secret going on between them that I am missing out on that happens just between them. These two beauties were no exception. They were just a joy to work with and we had a blast playing around and searching out fun spots. A lovely ending to a beautiful Fall Saturday afternoon. These pictures speak for themselves. Not much needs to be said from me. Quinn and Currie, you girls are amazing! Hope you like your photos! 😉

The secret language. 🙂

Stunning, aren’t they?

Told you we had fun!

James and Emma Kate!

September 28, 2010

Love this little family! I’ve been photographing James since he was about his sister’s age. Now he is 5 and in Kindergarten and his beautiful sister is growing up so quickly, too! We met up on Saturday morning for a lovely session at the Memphis Botanic Gardens. James is so comfortable with me and is such a big ham. He just makes me laugh and laugh. Little Emma Kate is a bit harder to crack but to be honest, there’s nothing more beautiful than those big blue eyes staring up wondering at me. Thanks for a great Saturday! Enjoy! 🙂

This past Saturday was my first round of Mini Sessions and they turned out just fabulous! At the last minute, I decided to switch up three of the sessions to Arlington Town Square (at the request of the customer 🙂 ) while the remainder of the sessions were taken here in my backyard! I couldn’t have been more pleased at our results. It was a great day full of some old friends that I hadn’t seen in awhile, some brand new friends experiencing their first time ever with 1:17 Photography as well as one of our “Find a Cotton Field” contest winners! I love the variety of looks I was able to capture on Saturday from the summer whites and impatiens to the sweaters and blue jeans. September is the perfect mesh for any type of look. I hope all of you enjoy your sneak peek! I had a blast and thank you for choosing 1:17 Photography! 🙂

So, without further babbling from me, here’s what you came here to see, enjoy!

These two cuties! Oh my. They were so funny! I promise they could be their own little comedy group. This session has been a long time in the making; but, this morning everything went off without a hitch. What adorable little sisters they are and so beautiful. Those dark eyes just melt you and then you add in their cute little laughs and grins and its just all over! Loved everything about this session…the smiles, the laughs, the cute little dresses. It all worked and turned into a great Friday session! Enjoy your sneak peak! 🙂

You’ve seen Matthew and Lainey here before if you are regular reader of my blog. These precious children have been long time clients and it was time this week for our yearly session! Their mom wanted to meet up at My Big Backyard at the Botanic Gardens so that we could do some photographs there since Lainey and Matthew have been going to the Gardens and making memories there for “their whole childhood”!

Seriously, these two siblings love each other so very much. I love their interactions together. I had the hardest time picking my favorites for their sneak peek. Enjoy the cuteness!!

Love the tender expressions in these black and whites!

True story. I asked the kids to walk down the bridge holding hands and looking at each other. They did…and then…without prompting, just stopped and hugged each other. Awwww!!

Parker and Grayson…

September 17, 2010

Boys! They are so much fun. So full of energy and such little charmers. Love ’em! I had the chance to hang out with Parker and Grayson this week for some portraits. We had a great time! We had to keep them moving to keep them entertained and interested the photos; but, it was worth it! Aren’t they just adorable? I love, love the sweet curls and cute little grins. Guys, thanks so much for playing with me. I hope your sweet momma loves these pictures as much as I do! Could just eat ’em up! 🙂

A mother’s love…

September 13, 2010

My sweet neighbor, Kim, contacted us and wanted to do a session with just her and her two children! Kim, like most of us mommies out there, are usually the ones behind the camera and documenting the family. It takes a real effort for the mom to be the one in front of the camera! Kim wanted some pictures of just her and Madison, one of my daughter’s great friends, as well as her and her cutie-pie son Andrew! It was such a fun session and so very important for the kids to have these sweet moments captured on film of how much their Mommy loves them. I am inspired and want to do a session like this of my own next spring I think! Enjoy this cute little family and be inspired all you moms out there! Don’t let your kids grow up without them having their picture made with you. Doesn’t have to be professionally made even. Just hand that camera over to Dad every now and then! 🙂

First, the ladies! Aren’t they gorgeous? Love the purple!

Oh, how, little boys LOVE their mommies! I asked Andrew to come have his turn with his mom and he made a run for her arms! Love the sweetness of that image!

And, a few of the kids together! Cute, cute, cute!

And, finally, Kim wanted to add a few in with their 13 year old dog, Dakota! I’m so glad she did this as these images will be priceless someday soon! Kim, thanks for asking me to do this special session with you and your family! 🙂

Meet precious Emery and her sweet family! Emery is such a wonderful example of God’s goodness as well as the love and devotion of family. Our friends, Emery’s parents, Jenny and Craig were due with their 2nd child in September and all was going all great…until about the middle of May when Jenny was admitted to the hospital with preterm labor. Ended up that Jenny was put on very strict bed-rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. The love and devotion of this momma to her baby to stay still and calm considering that she has a 2 year old at home , a household to run, and a husband to love on was a joy to watch! And, that sweet Daddy Craig! It must’ve been really tough to spend the last several months being mommy, daddy, caretaker, and housemaid all while working a full-time job and going to school….whew!! But, God is good! Precious Emery arrived at  just about full-term thanks to the devotion of her family. I thank God for His hand of mercy on this sweet family!

Now, meet Jenny, Craig, Max and sweet Emery! Welcome, baby girl! 🙂 And, be sure to check out her GORGEOUS little lips…awww!

Carrigan Grace is here!

August 30, 2010

Every time I have the opportunity to photograph a newborn, I am always amazed at God’s newest little creation. Little Miss Carrigan is the daughter of my friends, Mike and Jena. Mike is a pastor at our church and his lovely wife, Jena, has become a dear friend. I have photographed this precious family before, and so enjoyed capturing their newest addition. Carrigan is such a beautiful little baby girl and was so great for us last Friday. She was exactly two weeks old and adorable. Her big brothers just loved on her, too, and were so sweet. Thanks for allowing me into your home to photograph your sweet Carrigan. She is truly a picture of God’s grace! 🙂

A couple quick ones of Carrigan’s big brothers, too…

And, now, for Carrigan’s moment! Love these!!

Carrigan woke up in the middle of her session and kept looking straight at me. I love these precious eyes open portraits!

And, finally, asleep again!
