Remember this hilarious blog done by my friend, Ashleigh, detailing the perils and distresses that accompany finding clothing for her upcoming photo shoot? If you haven’t read it, please take a moment to read it now before viewing the photos. I promise it’ll make you smile and make this sneak peek all the more exciting! Well, she didn’t need to worry one bit! Ashleigh and family showed up Tuesday night for their session looking glamorous and we had a wonderful time together! I loved this session because it was so real…everything about it! From the genuine love that you see between Ashleigh and Patrick as well as the love between them and their children. I love that Shelby’s hair isn’t “perfect” but there are a few little wisps here and there that match perfectly against her bruises on her legs and blue band-aid! π I love little Patrick’s missing front teeth and his Spider-man house-shoes that show up in some shots because somehow we all kept forgetting to take off as we walked from spot to spot! π I love that little Gibson was more interested in the birds and my camera than he was about smiling for it! π But see, all these things are what make this family who they are right now! Love!! Ashleigh and Patrick, you already know this but, you have a great family! I hope these photos are a treasure to you in years to come. Enjoy!

Shelby, Patrick & Gibson…
April 14, 2011I had the absolute BEST time at this session! One of my favorite things to do is to go to some one’s home and capture them on their “home turf”. Miss Sandy, a.k.a. “Sassy” :), is one blessed little girl to grow up in this fabulous little piece of country. Sandy’s mom called me and wanted to just capture her being herself…still being a little girl. She just turned 6 years old last week and we wanted to capture her before the teeth fell out and playing with dolls, swings, and chasing around baby chickens were a thing of the past. I just LOVED everything about this family and this session. Their love for each other and the fabulous setting just made for an awesome night. There’s lots more here than I normally show, but I just can’t help it. So.much.fun! Miss Sassy…you are a beautiful young lady and so very loved! π
You know it’s going to be a fun session when the first 2 minutes produce images like these:
Then we added Mom and Dad in,and the fun and laughter continued!
I love everything about this next one…
Sandy has this amazing play-house and we wanted to capture a few of her in her own little spot in the world. Love it!
And, finally, it is spring-time and there are babies everywhere! Miss “Sassy” has her own little ducks and chickens that will soon grow up to produce fresh eggs every morning for her family. Love that! But, first, one with her pet rabbit, Thumper! How cute are these?
The sweetest smile…
April 6, 2011She has the CUTEST little smile!! LOVE!!! There are some kids that are just c.u.t.e. and little Miss Ella is so cute. She’s just this petite little bundle of happiness and the sweetest little smile you’ve seen in a while. We had a beautiful morning on Saturday playing together in the warm sunshine and she did such a wonderful job on her session. Her Mom and Dad just love her so very much and it’s so fun to see. Miss Ella, you were a joy and I loved working with ya’ll. Thank you for sharing your beautiful little girl! π
Abby is One!
April 6, 2011Abby is so shy…well, maybe not so much! This sweet baby girl has grown up so fast this past year and I can hardly believe that she is already 14 months old. Abby is one of my sweet baby planners from this past year and we have had such a great time working together. I thought that Abby’s first two sessions were just amazing, but she saved this best for last. We met up Sunday afternoon…remember how extremely windy it was? That was a challenge! π Abby showed up ready to go and FULL of personality. She had a blast hamming it up for the camera as myself, her parents and 4 grandparents watched “The Abby Show”. It was such a pleasure getting to capture her little personality through my lens. It brings me joy to know that moment will always be around for her parents to enjoy! These next 6 photos are just a sampling of the joy that she shared with us in the first few minutes of her session. There were more of her cute faces, but these are my favorites! They’ll make you smile! π
And, one quick one with Mom and Dad, too!
I am always a little nervous to move a child when they are obviously SO happy in a spot; however, shouldn’t have been with Abby. She was just as happy the rest of the afternoon and I love all her photos. The bonnet one is my FAV!!! Thank you, Brandon and Emily for sharing your sweet daughter with me this past year. I have enjoyed every moment!
Lovely Lacy and Lexi!
April 5, 2011Ya’ll..let me tell you. This session was SO.MUCH.FUN!! I loved it! One of the biggest blessings to me in this job is the ability to see return clients year after year and to see how they grow and change. I have been photographing Lacy since she was several months old and her sister since she was a baby as well. They always photograph beautifully, however, this session just seemed to top them all. I just love Lexi’s little pigtails. To me, they just make the picture! And Miss Lacy was so good on Friday and just did exactly what was asked and as a result we got some beautiful images. Take a look…
My personal favorite of the day is below. I just love everything about this one! π
Don’t know why, but the below image just speaks to me. So lovely of her…
And, finally, the girls grandmother came along for the shoot as our helper for the day and so we ended up with a few “generational” shots. They weren’t planned ahead but I think they are coordinated and lovely! What a sweet, sweet family. Jennifer, thank you for sharing your family with me all these years. Hope you love these as much as I do! π
Joey is Sitting and Smiling, too! :)
March 25, 2011Well, maybe not sitting so much! Joey much preferred to stand and hold onto something more than sit! π Do you remember this sweet baby face from last year?
Joey is just adorable! That dark hair and those dark eyes that sparkle! Love him! Joey is another of our Little Gifts Newborn Club babies and this was the 2nd of his shoots with us this year. He was so happy, but really didn’t like the dirt and cold grass. It was so cute. He really just wanted to sit in my chair (which thankfully I brought along-whew!), or with his beautiful Mommy, or stand holding onto said chair. Too cute.
This first image really was supposed to be of just Joey sitting on the bridge. Abby, his momma, was close by to grab him if needed. (Safety first, always!) My intention was to crop her out of the photo, but I just adore the sweet joy on her face watching her baby boy get his pictures made. I just had to include her, too! π And the one of them together? Notice the swan that joined the photo, too. Love that little detail.
Joey, you are a sweetheart, just like your Mom and Dad! And, your little crinkle-nose you make when you smile melts my heart. I had such fun with you. Enjoy! π
Hutton is Sitting and Smiling!
March 24, 2011Remember this handsome little fellow?
Well…look at this big boy now! What a precious little boy this is. Β He is so very loved by his Mommy and Daddy. This was one of the first of my fun spring sessions coming up over the next few months. I love the fun and bright, happy colors that show through and compliment the love this family has for each other. These images speak for themselves. I know you will enjoy!!
Happy Heart Spring 2011!!
March 12, 2011I love this time of year! Spring is coming so soon and I can hardly wait! I spent a VERY cold morning earlier this week with some precious little kiddos and we all kept thinking WARM thoughts! Doing the shoot each Spring and Fall for The Happy Heart in Arlington has become one of my favorite things to do each season. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, this place is a must-see if you are searching for a special outfit for your little ones. Their new spring lines are beyond fabulous, ya’ll! Really! π I love that they also have so many great choices for little boys, too! Those of us with boys understand this difficulty!
One of the things I love, among many, is that this store has incredible choices of clothing for photo shoots. Looking for something that coordinates for your children? Look no further. They are wonderful with “pulling it all together” and helping you coordinate the outfits and complete them with accessories that will make the look!
Please take a moment to look through these photos and see just a glimpse of what Happy Heart has to offer this spring. There is SO much more in the store! So, look and then get on over there and get some for yourself! π
Want to see the entire set of images? I’d love to share the slideshow with you! Follow this link and enter the password, “Spring2011”! You’ll love it! And these just scratch the surface of what they have to offer there! Enjoy!
Grayson & Krissy!
March 3, 2011I love my family so much! Seriously, all of them so very much. God has been beyond gracious to me in the gifts He has granted me in the area of my family. And, believe it or not, I include my “in-laws” within this statement! π Not everyone is as blessed as I am to have such an amazing family in their in-laws! Yesterday,in Memphis, was just beautiful! My little nephew, Grayson, almost 2 1/2 years was in need of some new photos;and, I was in need of wanting to be outdoors and do some shooting! I haven’t done an outdoor session since November, and I was itching to get out and play with God’s light! We included my awesome sister -in-law, Krissy, in the photos yesterday, too. She’s so beautiful, isn’t she? Love them and love these photos! Enjoy spring!!!
This group of pics with the two of them steal my heart!! Oh, I need to get some pics done with my own babies! π
Warm Thoughts for a Cold Day!
February 11, 2011I know. It is cold. It has been snowy! My goodness, it was 13 degrees here at my home in Lakeland this morning! But, just remember that this is just a season and it won’t last forever! The older I get, the more I have come to appreciate the true seasons of weather we get to enjoy in Memphis. Not everyone gets to have that. I am learning to embrace it. And, that way, when the spring arrives, I appreciate it all the more. And, just to remind you that it’s not that far away, I wanted to leave you with a few of my favorite spring pictures from last year. All of these were taken at the end of March or very first week or so of April. That’s only about six weeks away and it’ll be here before we know it! And, as a plug (I’ve gotta add the plug!), don’t forget that we will begin scheduling for outdoor sessions taking place in March, April, May or June on February 22nd! If you are already on our mailing list, then you will automatically receive information about this next week. If you aren’t and would like to be added, send me your email to julie@117photography.com and I’ll make sure you get added! Happy Friday ya’ll! Here’s the taste of things to come!
