Olivia and Carter!

September 28, 2012

Love this family!!! I’ve been photographing these two sweethearts for many, many years; and, it never gets old how absolutely sweet and cute they both are. We had SO much fun photographing in a “new to them” location yesterday. I had the hardest time dwindling down their proofs…they were seriously all that great! It’s always one of my favorite things to see families year after year and watch them as they grow and change. Thank you so much, “R” family for continuing to share your story with my camera lens. It is a joy and I just love you guys! Enjoy your sneak peek. Lots more heading your way soon! :)

These two cuties are gonna be lil heartbreakers! :)

Stephanie, Class of 2013…

September 28, 2012

You know that a session went very, very well when the first shot of the night looks like this:

And, the last moment my camera caught of beautiful Stephanie looked like this!

Meet the absolutely gorgeous and stunning Stephanie! We had the best time last night just laughing together and talking. I love, love, love that she brought along her entire family to the session, including their adorable little dog! It was very clear to me that this is a tight knit group that loves being together and laughing together. Stephanie has the best laugh and smile and her eyes are just to die for gorgeous! It was my honor and joy to photograph her for her senior portraits. I know that this sweet girl will go far in her life; and, what a privilege to capture her just as she is right now. Right on the edge of life beginning anew. Thanks, “M” family, for a great night. I know you are so very proud of Stephanie…I can see why! :) Enjoy your sneak peek. Sooo many more to come and I can’t wait for you to see them all! :)

Cotton!!

September 24, 2012

Gorgeous weather..beautiful white, fluffy cotton…perfect clothing choices…and sweet, beautiful children. All added up to a wonderful first day of Fall in a cotton field. Here’s  a quick sneak peek from our first round of Mini Sessions that happened on Sunday night! Enjoy!

Emily and Clayton…Love it!!

September 20, 2012

This was perfection!! I so enjoyed my time with this pair of siblings last night at the Spring Creek Golf Course. Wow! What a beautiful location. looove! Sometimes, at a session, everything just comes together perfectly. A sweet and beautiful brother and sister, perfect clothing choices, yummy golden end-of-summer light, and a perfectly cool early Fall temperature. We had so much fun playing together and riding the golf cart around looking for fun places to photograph. I ended up with sooooo many photos, and had the hardest time picking which ones to highlight here. Thank you, to the “M” family for a lovely evening and for sharing your family with me! Enjoy! :)

And, this little sweetheart is looking adorable! I just love the photos from her session that we did with her parents. There is such a love and warmth reflected and, to me, it is so easy to feel the love these three have for one another just by looking at these images. Mary Frances is a member of the Newborn Club, and I am so excited to watch her grow. This is a FUN family, and so full of love…not to mention, their little girl is a joy! Love photographing her growing up. Hope you guys enjoy the sneak peek. More to come soon!

Such a fun family! Couldn’t get over how absolutely beautiful their big eyes are, could’ve spent my whole time with them just doing closeups on the pretty eyes! But, I forced myself to do a few others as well. :) Thanks for sharing your family with me. Enjoy your sneak peek!

LOVE this next one! :) My favorite of the night.

Welcome, Charley Rose!

September 10, 2012

Oh, this was a special one for me!! Meet precious little doll baby, Charley Rose! Isn’t she just beautiful? Charley is the daughter of someone very, very special to me. Years ago, 11 in fact, when my first baby was born I was still a 9-5 working woman at St.Mary’s Episcopal School here in Memphis. As any new momma is, I was extremely nervous about having to leave my baby with someone else. Through God’s perfect plan, He led me to find Charley’s momma, Janet. Janet took such amazing care of my Jackson for me and is very special to our family. We just adore her, and couldn’t be happier to see her in a role that I’ve known for years that she would be fabulous at!

We met at Cody and Janet’s home to photograph their 7-day-old little girl. I loved all the thought that went into her beautiful room…you can tell this little one has been prayed over and welcomed with such joy! I loved that Janet dressed her in a gown that she wore as a baby….what a thoughtful and smart Nana Charley has to keep these things. Also loved the photos we captured of Charley lying in Janet’s little doll bed from when she was a little girl. It’s those little bits of nostalgia that bring a session a special spark.

Love you so much and couldn’t be happier for you guys! Charley Rose is beautiful and such a perfect gift from God. Congratulations!

Fall 2012 Mini Sessions!

September 4, 2012

As I write this post, it is still feeling very much like a summer day in Memphis, TN! I’m dreaming of cooler nights out by the fire, s’mores, and crunching colorful leaves beneath my feet. It’s time again to announce 1:17 Photography’s yearly tradition and customer favorite… Mini Sessions!  Avoid the hectic times surrounding the holidays this year by planning ahead.

How is a Mini Session different from a regular session? Well, it lasts about 15 minutes and you receive approximately 10 fully edited custom images. These sessions are perfect for those that don’t want a full session, want someone else to handle that dreaded “Christmas Card photo”, needs gifts for the grandparents, or just wants a few quick , simple, and lovely portraits of their favorite kiddo! And new this year, we are going digital! No shopping carts, no hard decisions to pick your favorites! You’ll just get them all on a disc and can use them to your liking.

See below for all the exciting details! Need to schedule your session time? Simply contact jodie@117photography.com with your desired date and she’ll be happy to help you complete the process. Again, these sessions are always a customer favorite so if you see an idea that sounds like something you’d like, don’t delay!

Due to the great feedback we received from last year’s Mini Sessions, we will once again offer a couple of different dates each at a different location!

The first location, tentatively planned for September 21st, will take place in a local cotton field. We have done a Mini Session there the last two years and they were a huge hit with 1:17 customers! Take a look at a blog from last years’s cotton field sessions!  I do need to make an important comment here, however. If you are going to purchase a cotton field Mini Session, please be aware that this is a tentative date only. We will have to wait until sometime in mid-September to know exactly when the cotton will be “ready” with those beautiful soft, white fluffs! :) I am in contact with the farmer who is letting us borrow his fields, and will be sure to notify you of any changes to this date if needed. You will just need to be flexible. Just know that if you purchase a cotton field Mini and the date has to be rescheduled and you cannot make the new date, we will do our best to work with you on finding a good alternative, or we will gladly refund your money. Hopefully, this date will work…we just won’t know for sure for another few weeks!

Our 2nd location this year is out in Collierville at Schilling Farms! I am super excited about the opportunities at this location and think that there is something for everyone here. By this date, some leaves on the trees will hopefully begin to be changing colors. This will be a fabulous location that will truly feel and look like Fall! Here’s a link to a blog that I did last week with some images from Schilling Farms with my beautiful daughter, Isabella.

Finally, the cost for this year’s session is $300.  I’m always like to change things up a bit, and this year I’m trying to make things a little easier on both of us for the Mini Sessions. With the purchase of a Mini Session this fall, it will cover your Sitting Fee, and you will receive the images from your session on a disc(approximately 10 images), professionally retouched with a print release giving you the opportunity to print and create as you wish. More and more often customers are asking for Digital Images, so here’s your chance! You won’t have to worry about shopping carts, ordering deadlines or any of those things. You’ll just get a DVD full of memories and beautiful images!

Be sure to look at the blog links above to get a better idea of what you can expect at each location. If you’d like to join us this year, don’t delay in scheduling. Sessions fill up fast! Can’t wait to see you!

I think my sweet children are the most beautiful things in this world…so forgive a Momma as I share a lot of photos on this post! :) I’ve been dying to get out to Collierville to shoot at Schilling Farms for quite some time, but, oddly enough this location has never been requested by any of my clients. I see it pop up time and again in others photographer’s blogs and Facebook posts. And, yes, I look at them, too! I could spend hours and hours looking at work by my peers…just love it! So, this little session with Isabella had several purposes for me. I am going to use this location for my Mini Sessions in October and needed some sample photos to show. What better little model than my little 8-year-old sweetheart? As we drove out to Collierville yesterday the skies were getting darker by the minute. But, luckily, I can work quick and so can she! We managed to get about 15 minutes in before the rain came down on us. I LOVED this location as much as I thought that I would; however, if you have come to this post to see what this location looks like for your own portrait session, please keep in mind that I cannot guarantee that the hay bales will be there for your session. I don’t know how long they will be around, but that’s okay because the barn, fields, trees and grasses are the perfect backdrop for your session. I can’t wait to see this Fall’s October Minis at this locale. Enjoy the photos of my beautiful baby girl! I love her so very much!

This next one is a great shot of the profile of the old barn…would be much more appropriate with a family than itty-bitty Bella…still wanted to show it b/c it’s so pretty!

This next one is one of my favs from the night…

I can just hear her asking me “Momma, aren’t we done? It’s about to rain!!”

My answer, “No, sweetheart, not quite yet. Just a couple more.” And, I am so glad I grabbed a couple more. Love these last ones!!
