Welcome, Lilly and Joseph!

January 30, 2012

WOW! Ya’ll are going to love this one. I am quite sure of it! This is the stuff that dreams are made from and tangible proof that God answers our prayers! 🙂

One month ago, this sweet family was a family of two, a precious married couple longing to fill their home with children. Fast forward one month, and you’ve got an instant family of 4 through the power of prayer and the miracle of adoption! Meet Lilly, age 4 and Joseph, only about 3 weeks “new”! Aren’t they just absolutely beautiful? These two adorable children are not only instant brother and sister, but also sweet son and daughter to Scotty and Allison. First Lilly came home to live with Scotty and Allison, and then a couple of weeks later, little Joseph was born and he made his journey home, too. There’s much to both of their stories of how each one came to be a part of Scotty and Allison’s lives; however, I don’t really think that is as important as the stories they have yet to be written. Stories of a beautiful God-given family that has only just begun.

I love the joy in Lilly’s face in all of these photos! Such happiness! And, look at Mr. Joseph! Not quite three-weeks-old and he was bright-eyed, alert, and holding his head up more than almost any newborn I have ever photographed. It was such a joy to be with this family and capture their first few days together. Scotty and Allison, your family is simply perfect. Congratulations! 🙂

Lovely Miss little Lilly…

The new brother and sister…

And, baby boy Joseph!

Too cute not to share!

As a photographer, there’s always a few things that can make you a little anxious about a photo session. Getting notice that you have an evening with a family of five children ages 6 and under can definitely cause a little heart flutter! 🙂 But, when I read the next line that the session was with one of my favorite 1:17 families, all those worries went away. Meet Beth and John and their simply precious family. John is a pastor in Memphis at a local church, and he and his sweet wife, Beth have adopted all 5 of these adorable children. I first photographed them when their oldest was barely a year old…and now here they are with an entire house FULL of joy! 🙂 Their story is such a beautiful one and a true picture of God’s grace and of His love for us. I just ADORE them! These photos were not originally posted last Fall when we took them because they were intended for the family’s Christmas card. John, Beth and I were beyond thrilled with how wonderful the children were that evening and we all just fell in love with this session! So happy to share this family with you! Enjoy! 🙂

Jodie and her family!

January 25, 2012

I’m playing a bit of “catch-up” today and wanted to blog a couple of families that didn’t get posted last Fall when I photographed them. First up, is my fabulous assistant and beautiful sister-in-law’s family…Jodie! Jodie and my “little” brother, Jeff, had their first family portrait taken by me since their oldest was six-months-old…she is now six! 🙂 These weren’t posted earlier becuase they were to be a fun Christmas surprise for the Grandparents. I love this family so very much! Happy to finally share their cutenss and love! Here’s Jeff, Jodie, Kinley, Kallen and little Graham!

Welcome, Mary Frances!

January 24, 2012

Oh, precious little baby girls! This was such a fun photo session. Mary Frances is the first grandchild on both sides of her family….lucky little girl! 🙂 She had quite the audience to watch her session yesterday: her Mommy, her Daddy, two Grandmothers and one aunt! I loved it! We all had such a good time together enjoying this sweet little baby girl. I can’t help but to get excited and share in the joy when it is literally tangible in the home. Before she was born, no one knew if Mary Frances was going to be a boy or a girl, so I was really impressed with the amount of “girly” things that they accumulated within four days! I can only imagine how this stack will grow as she does. Claudia and William, your daughter is just beautiful. I am so very happy for you both and for your families! What a tremendous blessing….congratulations!

Welcome, Ingrid Mae!

January 20, 2012

Tis the season for newborns! It’s been a wonderful last few weeks filled with lots of sweetness. This week, little Ingrid’s turn! This little girl is already full of surprises and fun! The day that I was there, she was obviously dreaming about something just amazing because the dream was vivid enough for her that her eyes kept opening and she smiled away…all while sound asleep. It was so fun to watch! 🙂 And, I, of course, loved the opportunity to capture some adorable little newborn smiles. LOVE!

Oh, how I love it when a newborn focuses right on my camera with their eyes wide open! Isn’t she just beautiful?

This sweet family is going to be busy the next few years! 🙂 Ingrid’s big brother just turned 18-months-old, and is just as gorgeous as his new little sister.

Finally, a couple of family shots. Needless to say, trying to get a 5-day-old and an 18-month-old to cooperate at a portrait session is a bit challenging. But, I love our results. First a black and white. I love the expressions on the kids’ faces. It is like she is already enthralled with her brother! 🙂

Megan and Tim, your family is just adorable. So happy for you! Congratulations!

Welcome, Maryn!

January 17, 2012

Oh my! Newborn goodness! Meet Miss Maryn! Precious and teeny and such a good little model! She could not have been any better for her session. She was only about 5-days-old at her session and I know that her parents are going to cherish her “newness” in the photographs in the years to come. There’s only so long that they are so new and fresh and tiny. Maryn is beautiful! I was honored to be asked to capture her for you, Paul and Angie! I know you are so very proud of your beautiful daughter. Congratulations and enjoy every second with your new little girl! 🙂

Welcome, Summit!

January 17, 2012

One of the many joys of my work is to use my camera to capture the children of my sweet friends! This gorgeous little boy is the newborn son of our friends, Autumn and Robert, whom we have grown to love over the last few years! These two are absolutely ENTHRALLED with their new little boy, and it just makes my heart explode with happiness to see them so happy! We were able to photograph little Summit at his Aunt’s home the other day, and he was the perfect little boy. I was so proud! Autumn and Rob, you two are going to be the best parents and little Summit has been blessed by God to have you two as his very own. Congratulations and I hope you love your little sneak peek! Summit, love ya, little buddy! 🙂

This next one may very well be my new favorite newborn shot in quite awhile! A precious grin from Summit and spontaneous smile of love from Mom! LOVE!!!

Look at this big guy! He has gone from this:

To this in just a matter of a few short months! I know if it is happening fast to me it must be moving at lightning speed for his Mom and Dad!

One of the great things about working with a family for several years is that we learn to trust one another. When Brooks’ mom asked me if I’d be willing to do his Sit ‘n’ Smile session outdoors in January, I must admit that I was a little worried. But, at the same time I knew that his Mom would show up in something perfect for the season and absolutely adorable. And, thanks to some unseasonably warmer weather this January, the temperatures weren’t nearly as bad as they could have been. Still quite chilly and windy, but not intolerable. Brooks and big brother, Cohen, did an awesome job toughing it out in the cold winter day and rocked their session. I just love this family and hope that they are as pleased with our winter results as I was! 🙂 Enjoy!

And, my favorite shot of the day! Just love these little giggle grins!

Welcome, Natalie Grace!

January 5, 2012

I cannot think of a better way to start off 2012! Meet sweet Natalie! She was born right before Christmas of last year and her newborn session was such fun! She has the teeniest most precious petite little features! Absolutely a beautiful little girl! I so loved my time snuggling with her. She had a bit of a tough time getting started for this session, but luckily pulled it through like the princess that she is and did a beautiful job in the end! I love what we ended up capturing and hope that these photos will always be a treasure to her sweet family of her teeny-tiny-beautiful newborn self! Welcome to the world, gorgeous girl! 🙂
